Is it faster to bandage a wound or leave it open?

After an injury, many people may struggle with the choice of “bandaging” or “leaving it open”.

Some people choose “open”, also known as “exposure therapy”, for the following reason: the wound needs to be open to allow air to penetrate, so that it can scab over as quickly as possible.

The reason is that the wound needs to be open to allow air to pass through, so that it can scab over as quickly as possible, and as soon as the scabs fall off, the inside will be healed.

If a bandage is used, the wound is likely to be “smothered”.

From a professional point of view, it is recommended to use “bandage therapy” as much as possible.

There are several reasons for this:

1. The wound needs to be “air-dried”, i.e. let the air take away the moisture. This is so that the exuded fluid can “scab” and the wound can heal faster under the protection of the scab. However, this natural healing method is only suitable for minor wounds. Once the wound is deeper, it is easy to form pus under the scab, which is why usually in about 4 days after the wound is scabbed, the surrounding area becomes more and more red and swollen, and pus oozes out from under the scab.

2. Nowadays, many advanced wound dressings are breathable, and can absorb wound exudate and secretion of sweat, the reason why many patients feel that the wound is “muffled” as soon as the dressing, largely due to the use of the wrong ointment inside. Early should not use any oil-based ointment or irritating alcohol.

3. Exposure therapy, the drug can not act on the surface of the wound for a long time, most of the ointment will dry in a short period of time, and after the drying of the film of the ointment generally only play a role in isolating the role of external bacteria. Therefore, exposure therapy requires multiple applications throughout the day in order to maintain a continuous effect on the wound.

4. Advanced wound dressings can isolate pathogenic bacteria in the air, avoiding wound infection and inflammation, and facilitating wound care and healing.

Dressing therapy needs to pay attention to several issues:

1. Head, face and perineum generally do not take bandaging therapy Not because they do not need bandaging, but it is difficult to bandage. If the wound is deep, such as a flame burn or thermal pressure wound, it should still be dressed.

2. The advanced wound dressings can effectively absorb exudate and prevent adhesion. Different wound dressings can be chosen according to the size of the wound and the amount of exudate.

The Advantages of Defibrillators
Immediate response is one of the key advantages of defibrillators. When a person experiences sudden cardiac arrest, every minute is crucial for their survival.
How accurate are ear thermometers?
The results are typically accurate if a person uses tympanic thermometers, or digital ear thermometers, correctly. However, ear thermometers may not be as accurate as contact ones.
What is Defibrillator?
Defibrillators are devices that apply an electric charge or current to the heart to restore a normal heartbeat. If the heart rhythm stops due to cardiac arrest, also known as sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), a defibrillator may help it start beating again.
